Emotions are at the centre of couple work. Many partners seek counselling because they feel unheard, misunderstood, or disconnected. Through Imago Relationship informed Therapy and the Emotionally Focused Therapy –Couples Chat approach, we find creative ways to explore emotional patterns, share feelings in a structured dialogue, and build greater empathy for one another’s experience. Couples therapy approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago-informed therapy, and Couples Chat are grounded in attachment and relationship science. Research on EFT has shown that many couples experience improvements in relationship satisfaction, with benefits often maintained over time. Couples Chat is a structured EFT dialogue tool that helps couples communicate in a safe and supportive way. It slows down difficult conversations so that underlying emotions can surface and be expressed without judgment. Each partner is encouraged to listen with empathy, respond with openness, and recognise how their interaction patterns influence the relationship. This method helps reduce defensiveness, contain reactivity, and make space for more vulnerable conversations. Over time, Couples Chat fosters trust, emotional safety, and the skills needed for partners to reconnect. It is both practical and flexible, giving couples a clear framework to deepen their bond and create lasting change.
